John Macgillivray
John Macgillivray is a co-founder of Project Planning and Management Ltd and Promoter Software Ltd. He holds a MA Hons degree from Cambridge University and is a Chemical Engineer and a Chartered Engineer. He worked in the chemical contracting business for some 20 years and was a project manager for M W Kellogg Ltd. Amongst other projects, he worked on the Kuwait Oil Company Gas Project, at that time the largest LPG recovery project in the world. He changed direction and started to develop financial models beginning with Excel. Recognizing the limitations of using spreadsheets in this field, he has led the development of a software package for project finance and PPP models and has consulted in this area for over twenty years. He has recently written two chapters on financial modelling for the 8th edition of Euromoney's book "Project Financing", the reference manual for this subject, authored by Professor Frank Fabozzi and Dr Carmel de Nahlik.
Carmel de Nahlik
Has held various academic jobs in finance and in governance in universities, following a former life as a banker. She holds a PhD from Cranfield School of Management, which looked at firm survival and knowledge asymmetries and an MA in Online and Distance Education from the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University, looking at peer assessment in Executive Education programmes. Her research centres around decision making and performance management (not least in project finance) and strategy. She is also qualified in the use of psychometric profiling tools such as MBTI, 16PF, and FiroB and is a Prince 2 Practitioner. She has long experience linking theory and practice by teaching strategy and finance for universities as well as companies and governments and has written several books on project finance and banking
